A glimpse into the stories families and I make together.
Below are a few glimpses from real family sessions. Each family received many more photographs, but these short sequences will give you a sense of how I tell a story.
Every family has its own rhythms, rituals, and routines. Those are the things I come to photograph—the everyday moments that may not seem remarkable now but become more meaningful with time.
Breakfast and a Chillin’ in bed
We started with eggs, toast, and coffee, then followed everyone into the kids’ room while the baby got changed and dressed. After some time together inside, we headed to the backyard, where the kids ended up riding around in a wheelbarrow.
Water Beads and the Backyard Tree
We moved from one activity to the next: a bowl of squishy blue water beads, the jungle gym, the tree in the backyard, drawing at the coffee table, and everyone piling onto the bed together.
Records, Sand, and Lunch Outside
They put on some favorite records and let the baby dance around the living room. Then we moved outside for time in the sandbox and lunch at the baby-sized table.
Waiting at Home
They were waiting for their baby to arrive and spending their last quiet weeks at home with their beloved dog. We photographed them cuddling on the couch and bed, sitting at the table, and simply being together in their apartment.
A New Arrival Comes Home
They had just welcomed their baby, so we photographed the things filling those early days: cuddling in bed, nursing, diaper changes, and the baby stretching out in their arms. No elaborate setup or perfect swaddle—just the baby doing what babies do.
Meeting Baby at the Hospital
Grandma, Grandpa, and big sister came to the hospital to meet the new baby. We photographed the introductions, the holding, Dad playing with the baby, and what it looked like to have the whole family together.
